The British Government has approved the expansion of Heathrow airport - the UK's main "hub" airport.

The debate over building a new runway has been ongoing for nearly 20 years, as Heathrow airport has reached capacity but demand for travelling into the UK via London has increased, with fears that if a solution wasn't found less people would end up flying into the capital which would impact business negatively. During the campaign, multiple solutions were presented, including building an expansion to Gatwick Airport - just outside of London - instead, or former London Mayor Boris Johnson suggested building a new airport on the River Thames.
