Last week, One Direction announced that a potato would be joining the band.

Wait, we should explain this actually...

The boys stopped by 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' in the US and brought a potato with them (it cost precisely 58 cents).

Niall Horan on the matter: "We bought it at Ralph’s. It cost 58 cents. It’s a very ordinary, some might say humble, vegetable, but what this potato does not know is it is about to become the most famous potato in the world. Members of the paparazzi will try to take pictures of it. Young girls will shriek when they see it. By this time tomorrow, this potato... might even be dating Ariana Grande."

Naturally, we had to get other opinions on the matter.

On Sunday night we attended the World Premier of Joe & Caspar Hit The Road - the brand new film starring YouTuber boy chicks Joe Sugg and Caspar Lee. Whilst their, we asked a variety of the world's biggest YouTubers about PotatoGate.

About the matter, Marcus Butler said, "If it's a sweet potato, I'm all cool with it" - whilst fellow YouTuber Katie Snooks didn't seem as impressed, "Well is it a mashed potato… or just unbaked? I think that’s rubbish! Come on, get a McVitty in!".

Louise Pentland (AKA Sprinkle of Glitter) was slightly more optimistic about the potato's future, telling us, "Thrilling news! Potatoes are very versatile; you can do anything with them. I think the boys are going to come out with some really interesting things with it." and Joe Sugg & Caspar Lee themselves wished it good luck, "We hope it can sing!"

However, Stef Michalak (who accompanied his wife Hannah Mags - of the The Michalaks YouTube account) didn't have such kind words, "It could add quite a lot to their musical integrity to be honest. It wouldn’t surprise me. I don’t have any respect for what they do, in terms as the fact that they’re mass produced; they’re told what to do, etc… They’re just constructed. For me, it seems like having a potato join them is just like a natural progression really."

Oh, take a joke!
