Just off from supporting Catfish and the Bottlemen on their recent sold-out UK tour, Black Honey are a name not to be passed over in the music industry right now.
Put Lana Del Rey in an indie-rock band, and you have the basis for Black Honey. Lead vocalist Izzy Baxter performs with that brand of drifting vocals mixed with ultimate girl power. However, the band don't let you stay comfortable. Even within hit single Corrine, as soon as you get comfortable the instruments come in and you're suddenly in a rock concert.
Hailing from Brighton, they're refusing to stay quiet. New EP Headspin (which was also just released on vinyl) has garnered many positive reviews and, following their acclaimed support slot with Catfish, they have a busy summer ahead of them - including performances at The Great Escape Festival and Summer Sonic in Tokyo.
James Gilmore is interviewing Izzy (vocals, guitar) and Chris Ostler (guitar) from Black Honey on Sunday 22nd May 2016, but before then here are some of the sounds that they're listening to right now.
Trouble - Cage The Elephant
Summer Wine - Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood
Brimful of Asha (Norman Cook Remix) - Cornershop
Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles
Those are some great sounds! Don't miss our interview with Black Honey this Sunday 22nd May at 5.30pm (UK time) only on W!ZARD Radio Station.
