When we first heard Darlia (the Bristol band made up of icon-to-be Nathan Day along with Dave Williams and Jack Bentham) in 2014 we subsequently interviewed them three times – following their journey from small-stage to Glastonbury.
Now it’s three years later, they have been on quite a journey. After their renowned ‘Petals’ was released in 2015, and a string of hits including ‘Dear Diary’, ‘Stars Are Aligned’ and ‘I’ve Never Been To Ohio’, the band almost disappeared. With no sign of the band still being together on social media, previously loyal fans who had followed the band from hole-in-the-wall to festival stages settled on the fact that they may never hear again from the band labelled ‘the next big thing’.
But when the clocks changed and 2017 came in, hope was restored. With a harder, unforgiving rock sound, lead singer Nathan Day’s face was plastered on Facebook and ‘Ballad of Black & White’ was the first sound of what Darlia has become.
Reflecting this transformation, the band have been supporting Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes on tour, as well as playing their own headline dates.
Chris France and Jordan Powell interviewed Nathan Day from Darlia about their two year break, their transformation and touring with Frank Carter.
