As Benji Hyer’s radio show on W!ZARD Radio Station went live on-air on Sunday 25th November, Theresa May successfully sold her Brexit plan to EU leaders at an emergency make-or-break summit in Brussels.
On the one hand, she was given an impossible task, and many will claim – not just her allies – that the Prime Minister has done relatively well given the constraints. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, for one, believes this is the “best deal possible for Britain” from the feasible options.
However, others feel that this is not just Mrs May making the best of a bad situation. She chose to interpret the Brexit result in a certain way, and we are left with the worst of both worlds, in which nobody from either side is happy.
Her proposal now faces a vote in the UK Parliament, where the Conservative Party leader has an uphill battle to convince the Northern Irish DUP party, critical hard-line Brexiteers, rebellious Remainers, and the opposing Labour party, all of which are unlikely to prop up the deal. If it is voted down, Britain may end up with a Tory leadership challenge, a general election, a second referendum, or no deal at all.
